Blue Class

When the children progress to Year 1 they further develop their knowledge, development and skills within the framework of the Key Stage One curriculum. Phonics and reading is one of the the linchpins that holds all of their learning together, thus one of our main priorities - good readers make good writers and by enabling children to segment and blend fluently, we open up an entire world of possibiltiies to them across the rest of the curriculum.

Miss Eldon ensures that Blue Class have weekly garden sessions, planting and growing a variety of fruits and vegetables in our school garden. Wellingtons are recommended, it gets very muddy!

Our teaching assistants are Mrs Harriden, Mrs Smith and Mrs Rogers.

Some of our topics include:

  • We're All Going on a Summer Hioliday!
  • What's in the Toy Box?
  • Long, Long Ago!
  • Down in the Woods
  • Ourselves & Pets
  • Down at the Bottom of the Garden

Please see our Whole School Curriculum Map and Topic Overviews for more details!

The Topic Overviews are intended to reflect the sequence of learning for a topic, alongside key curriculum coverage, focus areas, key questions, enrichment, extension oportunities and cross currlicular links.

The Knowledge Organisers are child friendly documents which are intended to signpost key vocabulary, key facts, key questions and ideas for homelearning along with ideas for possible family visits which could support a topic.
