Attendance

Nationally, school attendance remains concerning, as numbers have not returned to normal after slipping during the pandemic. Regular attendance is essential for children’s academic progress, well-being, and overall development.
Our school Federation is proud of how well we work with our families to support consistently above national attendance.

Blue Class win Attendance Teddy Bear for top attendance of the week. This is always an exciting moment in our weekly Collective Worship celebration!
We pride ourselves in knowing the whole child and our families well. We seek at all times to work in collaboration with families, with openness, integrity and understanding and with the needs of the child at the centre of all we do. It is essential that every child is treated as an individual and that care is given as gently and as sensitively as possible.
This ethos greatly supports attendance in our setting.

We are committed to meeting our obligation with regards to school attendance through our whole-school culture and ethos that values good attendance, including:

  • Promoting good attendance
  • Reducing absence, including persistent and severe absence
  • Ensuring every pupil has access to the full-time education to which they are entitled
  • Acting early to address patterns of absence
  • Building strong relationships with families to ensure pupils have the support in place to attend school
  • Promoting and supporting punctuality in attending lessons

This ethos is clearly reflected in our Attendance Policy and our Home-School Agreement. Please see these documents for more information on absence in term time, attendance thresholds and sanctions, how we monitor attendance, etc.

We seek at all times to work in collaboration with families, with openness, integrity and understanding and with the needs of the child at the centre of all we do.

Where attendance is becoming an issue, we will endeavour to support parents in meeting expectations. This will include phone calls, the receipt of a formal letter, invitations to face to face meetings etc. A co-ordinated approach within our local pyramid of schools also ensures expectations of high attendance remain high and clear.
Celebration of good attendance includes regular attendance awards and certificates, letters to parents and the weekly awarding of Attendance Ted.
