When the children progress to Year 1 they further develop their knowledge, development and skills within the framework of the Key Stage One curriculum. Phonics and reading is one of the the linchpins that holds all of their learning together, thus one of our main priorities - good readers make good writers and by enabling children to segment and blend fluently, we open up an entire world of possibiltiies to them across the rest of the curriculum.
Our class teachers are Mrs Simcox and Miss Eldon who both have a love of the outdoors. Mrs Simcox often brings in her homemade honey and eggs from her hens for Blue Class to taste and explore. Miss Eldon ensures that Blue Class have weekly garden sessions, planting and growing a variety of fruits and vegetables in our school garden. Wellingtons are recommended, it gets very muddy!
Our teaching assistants are Mrs Gilmour, Mrs Rogers, Mrs Smith and Mrs Robbins.
